The first sweet corn in Buhl has tasseled. The weather in Idaho last week was much warmer than normal with high temperatures in the mid to upper 90’s. The forecast for this past week was more of the same with high temperatures in most of the week in the 90’s.
Sweet corn planting was near completed this week with only about 400 acres remaining to be planted in Rochester. Temperatures in Minnesota last week were slightly below normal overall (cool early on and warmer late in the week). Most areas received little rainfall last week (around 0.25 inches or less throughout most of the state and up to 0.6 inches in southern Minnesota). The month of June was the 2nd wettest June on record in southern Minnesota. High temperatures were near normal overall this week (above normal Sunday and Monday, then near normal towards the end of the week). There were thunderstorms early this week with chances of thunderstorms over the weekend.
Corn is tasseling in Wisconsin. Last week, the weather continued to bring rain to all of the growing areas with some areas receiving from 1.5 to 3 inches. Temperatures were at or below normal. This week brings rain to all areas both early and late in the week with temperatures to fall below normal after Monday for all areas.
